The institute has a computer pool which used for
practical exercises. The students are allowed to used the
GIS-laboratory 24 hours a day.
The entrance is controlled
by an personal ID-Card and an electronic access device.
ESRI

April 1998 - the Universities of Berlin signed a
contract with the company ESRI. Within the frame of the contract
convenants the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation Technology is
supplied with free packages from the ESRI Virtual Campus. The Virtual
Campus is a web based training offering expertise about GIS-basics,
-technology and -application. Detailed information you can find on

Furthermore students of the
institute are supported with an free one-year-valid license of ArcGIS
Desktop. Interested Parties can contact the administrator of the
GIS-laboratory.

Visual Paradigm [5] offers Technical University Berlin VP-UML [6], SDE-EC [7], SDE-VS [8] for educational use through the VP Academic Partner Program [9].
Safe Software

The FME Grant Program of the company Safe Software
Inc. [11] gives the opportunity to use licenses for processing of
spatial data.
One example is FME which allows to
import more than 200 different data formats for GIS- and
CAD-appplications, Web-services, spatial databases and 3D data
formats.

A free network license from Vectorworks 2011 has
been installed on the computers of the GIS-LAB for educational
purpose. Furthermore students and lecturers are allowed to order a
free version from ComputerWorks [13].
Microsoft

The Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA [15]) is a speacial license program from the company Microsoft [16], which offers legal and free licenses for multiple Microsoft software products. More information you can find here [17].
