Zeitraum 01.Sep.2001 - 30.Jun.2007 Projektträger German Aerospace Center (DLR) Ansprechpartner Weitere Mitarbeiter Gehrke, Stephan Lehmann, Hartmut Köhring, Robert Zusammen- fassung Based on the imagery of the "High Resolution Stereo Camera" (HRSC) on "Mars Express" orbiter, our Institute generates large-scale maps. The standard product of the "Mars Express" mission is the "Topographic Image Map Mars 1:200, 000", which covers the Red Planet in 10,372 individual map sheets in equal area projections. In order to automate the map generation process, the cartographic software package "Planetary Image Mapper" has been developed. The software generates and/or compiles the topographic map content, i.e. the orthoimage basis, contour lines derived from HRSC DTM, topographic names, and gridlines, as well as map titles and further marginal information. Resulting digital map sheets contain all raster and vector data in PDF format; they can be printed out on demand. Using PIMap, various sheets of the standard series, special target maps in larger scales, and also thematic maps have been produced. Weitere Information Project Pages: |
